Wagga Wagga-born soprano Lisette Bolton is a Master of Music (Opera Performance) graduate from the University of Melbourne and an alumna of Opera Australia’s Regional Student Scholarship, the Young Songmakers Development Program and Opera Scholars Australia. Since moving to Melbourne in 2017, she has performed with many independent and state-funded companies throughout Victoria and has twice been nominated for Green Room Awards. She was also recipient of the Goethe Institut Prize in the 2024 Australian Singing Competition and semi-finalist in the 2023 Herald Sun Aria.
Her performance credits include Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel, Humperdinck), Parrwang (Parrwang Lifts the Sky, Deborah Cheetham Fraillon), Laeticia (The Old Maid and the Thief, Menotti), Kala/Elle (Pieces of Margery, May Lyon), Erste Dame (Die Zauberflöte, Mozart), Bird (The Grumpiest Boy in the World, Joseph Twist), Second Woman (Dido and Aeneas, Purcell), Olive (Fly, Barry Conyngham) and Girl (Emperor of Atlantis, Viktor Ullmann). She has also understudied Blanche (Dialogues des Carmélites, Poulenc) and Contessa (Le Nozze di Figaro, Mozart).
Since 2016, Hoang formed his own company and started to present his own concerts. Besides his performances here at the Recital Centre, he has presented recitals in major venues around Australia including in Sydney at City Recital Hall and Adelaide Town Hall. In concerto performances, Hoang has performed in the past with the major symphony orchestras of Melbourne, Queensland, Tasmania and Canberra as well as community orchestras including the Zelman, Geelong, South Melbourne and Heidelberg.
Hoang has travelled and performed widely around the world and studied at the Australian National Academy of Music, Manhattan School of Music, and Royal College of Music in London. His teachers throughout the years were Rita Reichman, Marc Silverman and Dmitri Alexeev.
