Australian Kiran Rajasingam is quickly achieving a reputation as an excellent young baritone, captivating audiences on the opera stage and delivering breathtakingly nuanced recitals on the concert platform.
In 2022 he made his principal debut role with Opera Australia (OA)as Yamadori in Madama Butterfly. A regular with Victorian Opera (VO), Kiran’s credits include Herod (The Play of Herod), Mr Waa (Parrwang Lifts the Sky), The King (Cendrillon), Ein Cappadocier (Salome), Mr Mayor (The Pied Piper), Scientist #1 (The Grumpiest Boy in the World). Chorus roles with OA include La Traviata, Il Trovatore, Lohengrin, Mefistofele, Aida and Ernani and with VO, La Cenerentola, Capriccio, Parsifal, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, La Sonnambula, William Tell, I Capuleti e i Montecchi and Cunning Little Vixen.
He was privileged to have original roles in new operatic works by Richard Mills, Gordon Kerry and Joseph Twist. At The University of Melbourne, Kiran performed the role of Adonis in John Blow’s Venus & Adonis conducted by Will Wroth, and Ben in Menotti’s The Telephone.
